Accreditation Letter

Postsecondary Institutions recognized by the United States Department of Education receive federal and state funding. JJBI/HL does not accept federal or state funds because of our belief in separation of church and state. Neither do we intend to conform our educational standards to regulations, and/or course materials that federal and state public affiliations would most likely impose. JJBI/HL is not required, nor do we desire to be approved by a governmental educational system. We are not alone in this, for there are many fine and highly acclaimed Christian Institutions which take a similar position.

Our purpose is to equip born-again believers to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in Christian Ministry. Our intent is to remain an institution devoted to ecclesiastical vocations not secular vocations.

Accreditation is a voluntary, cooperative process by which schools willingly agree to abide by, adhere, to, and participate in a set of established standards in order to promote quality education. In particular, for religious institutes of higher learning, these standards are for the purpose of promoting the spiritual as well as the academic quality of education. Thus the goals are set by the accreditation association(s) and agreed upon by those who are accredited by such associations.

The purpose of being accredited is to let students know that you are committed to a standard of excellence, although, your school will reflect its competence and integrity. Students or prospective students like to know that the school they attend is geared toward constant improvement and academic excellence.

If your sole purpose of needing an education is for the Gospel ministry or a related field within Christian service, secular accreditation is not necessary or required. Although it is not required we will strive to be accredited by those associations who set forth standards of high academics and student achievement. Most all churches accept Christian education regardless of which accreditation group (if any) the school is with.

If you are studying for other than the Gospel ministry or Christian service, make sure that the school you attend belongs to a regional (governmental) accrediting association. When educating those in Christian service, secular accreditation may not be necessary. Even though a school, college, or institute is accredited it does not guarantee transfer of credits or employment.
